Biography for Judy (Watts) Smith
Judy attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after graduating from high school and subsequently received a degree in nursing. For twenty years she worked for UAB Huntsville Family Medicine. While at LSU, she played violin in the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra and later in the Cookeville, Tennessee and the Petersburg, Virginia community orchestras. She married her husband of 44 years in 1965 and they had two children and one grandchild. As an army wife, she made homes for her family in numerous locations such as Germany, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and Tennessee, and she finally settled in Huntsville, Alabama in 1983. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed music, loved to read, and had a passion for travel. Following retirement she and her husband traveled to the Canadian Rockies, China, Russia, Panama, Costa Rica, Hudson Bay, Canada, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, in addition to numerous locations in the United States. Judy lost her short battle with cancer in 2009. |
